A butt lift, sometimes called a buttock lift, Brazilian butt lift, or Brazilian butt fill, is a procedure for adding volume and contour to the buttocks. In a buttock lift procedure, fat is removed from a donor area in your body, typically the love handles, using liposuction. The fat is treated before being injected into your buttocks to provide additional volume.
Some women are able to get the curvaceous buttocks they desire with exercise, while others see their buttocks flatten or remain flat. A buttock lift may be right for you if you have always felt that your buttocks lacked contour, or if they used to have good fullness but have lost volume due to weight loss. Ideal candidates for a butt lift have good fat donor areas but are still near their ideal weight.
No. Butt implants are foreign material that is implanted into your body. A butt lift uses your own fat to give you the fuller, more curvaceous backside you desire.
Most people prefer the butt lift over butt implants. Since a butt lift uses your own body tissue, it is safer, with less likelihood of complications. There is no need to create a pocket for an implant. Also butt implants can shift out of position, leading to an unappealing result. They may even be extruded from the body in some cases. Many people also report that butt implants can be uncomfortable when sitting.
Most people see permanent results from a butt lift procedure. In some cases, too much of the fat may be absorbed by the body and you might need a second injection procedure. Rarely, a third procedure is necessary. But once you achieve the ideal contour, your results will be permanent because the new fat is a living, integral part of your buttocks.
The first part of the procedure is exactly the same as a liposuction procedure. The second part of the procedure is similar to receiving injectable fillers like Juvéderm, but is made up of numerous smaller injections that help ensure the viability of transplanted fat. The procedure can take from two to four hours depending on the amount of volume being added.
After your butt lift, you will probably have some swelling and discoloration. The swelling and bruising will go down in one to two weeks. In addition, you will have to wear a compression garment around your donor areas and your buttocks for about a month. You will be prescribed medication to control any discomfort you might feel, which is typically minor.
