Hand Surgery

Hartford, Greenwich, Waterbury, Glastonbury - Connecticut

Hand SurgeryThe full, pain-free use of our hands is something most of us take for granted – that is, until we sustain an injury to one or both of them. Anyone who has sustained a hand injury knows very well how important our hands are to virtually every activity we engage in.

Unfortunately, not all hand injuries are avoidable and accidents do happen. When they do, you will want to seek treatment from the best hand surgeon available. The hands are among the most complex systems in the body, and you do not want to trust them to just any physician.

In addition to a full range of cosmetic surgical procedures, Dr. Foster also offers a full range of treatments for diseases and injuries to the hand, wrist, arm, and elbow. He is the only plastic surgeon in the Waterbury area with the Certificate of Added Qualification in hand surgery. Some of the more common hand-related problems Dr. Foster sees are:

  • Work-related injuries – Anything can happen at work. Your hands may be cut, crushed, or broken. Fingertip amputations are common. Injuries caused by repetitive movement such as carpal tunnel syndrome are very widespread and can become excruciatingly painful if not treated properly.
  • Sporting injuries – Like the workplace, anything can happen while engaged in sporting activities. Broken bones, dislocations, sprains, and strained muscles, ligaments, and tendons are common sporting injuries. Repetitive stress injuries like “tennis elbow” and carpal tunnel syndrome are also common.
  • Other disease and deformities – Arthritis, Raynaud's Syndrome, Dupuytren's disease, tendonitis and many other diseases and syndromes can cause severe pain and limit the use of your hands. Birth defects and other developmental deformities often do the same. While not all of these diseases and syndromes are curable, they are treatable.

Dr. Foster offers the latest technology for carpal tunnel release.  He uses the AM Surgical Endoscopic approach. The entire procedure is done through a small incision seen with a camera.

If you have sustained an injury to your hands or suffer from any of the aforementioned diseases or syndromes, you will want to seek treatment from the most experienced, qualified, and capable hand surgeon available. Dr. Foster has over 25 years experience in hand surgery and has either operated on or treated every type of hand-related disease and injury known to medicine.

If you live in the Hartford, Greenwich, or Waterbury, Connecticut area and have limited use of your hands due to injury or disease, please contact Dr. Foster today.
