The buttock lift, or Brazilian butt lift, has become a popular procedure for women with small, flat, or poorly developed buttocks who want to add volume and contour to their rear end. This is achieved by transplanting fat from another area of the body (usually the abdomen) to the buttocks.
Your own fat is used in a buttock lift which makes it much safer and allows for a quicker recovery time. There is no risk of implant rupture, capsular contracture, or chance that you will need an implant replacement several years down the line. The buttock lift also allows Dr. Foster to contour other parts of the body in order to get donor fat.
The butt lift carries minimal risk of complications and provides a very natural looking result. Individuals who do not have enough excess fat deposits in other parts of their body may not be suitable for the Brazilian lift. This is very rarely the case, however. A consultation with Dr. Foster will help determine if a buttock lift is right for you.
The butt lift procedure can take anywhere from two to four hours depending on how much work is required. Dr. Foster will begin by using a liposuction device to remove fat from your thighs, abdomen, back, hips, or anywhere you have sufficient fat deposits. This donor fat is then inserted into the buttocks through small incisions.
Expect some swelling, discoloration, and pain following the surgery. Most of the swelling and bruising should go away within a couple weeks. You will be required to wear a compression garment around the donor areas as well as around your buttocks for about one month to ensure proper healing. You will be prescribed medication to manage any pain you may experience during your recovery.
