Fat injections offer you a natural approach to facial rejuvenation. If you are hesitant to undergo an invasive surgical procedure, Dr. Foster can use fat injections to restore a more youthful complexion to your facial region, or anywhere on your body. This treatment is very safe, and since your own fat is used for the procedure, there is no chance that your body will reject it. As fat grafting technology has improved over the past few years, Dr. Foster has been able to achieve increasingly exceptional results that are lasting longer than ever.
Your fat transfer procedure involves removing excess fat cells from another region of your body and re-injecting them into your facial region, or other areas, for dramatic rejuvenation effects. This minimally invasive procedure will provide you with a double benefit – you can reverse the signs of aging in your face while achieving an improved body contour in the region where the fat cells were removed.
Regions Treated by Fat Injections
Just about any region of your face can be enhanced using fat injections, including:

Connecticut plastic surgeon Dr. Stanley Foster may sometimes recommend fat injections in conjunction with a facelift for enhanced results. Fat injections are also commonly used in buttock augmentation procedures.
Am I a Candidate for Fat Injections?
Ideal candidates for fat injections are in good health and do not have any pre-existing conditions which may impact the results of the procedure. You must also have sufficient stores of fat in other regions of your body to harvest for the fat transfer procedure.
As with any plastic surgery procedure, it is important that you have realistic expectations for the outcome of your procedure.
Your Fat Injection Procedure
Your fat injection procedure is performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia. Dr. Foster will remove fat from the donor region using a liposuction procedure. Common donor regions include the:
The harvested fat is then purified using a centrifuge to ensure that only whole, undamaged fat cells are reinserted into your body. Dr. Foster will inject the fat back into the desired treatment region to achieve a rejuvenation of the facial skin, or when performed as part of a buttock augmentation procedure, to provide additional volume and a more pleasing contour to the region.
Recovery from Fat Injections
You may feel some tightness in the treated area for several days, and the donor site may be a little sore. This will gradually subside over time. It is also normal to be swollen and pink the day of the procedure, so you may want to take the day off. The majority of swelling should go away in one to three days, although it may take several weeks for it to entirely subside. It is important to avoid wearing makeup for a couple of days to promote proper healing.
In certain situations, you may need several treatments to achieve your desired results. You can expect the effects of your fat injections to last as long as seven years.
