Wide Awake Eyelid Surgery
Whether you live in Danbury, Cheshire or West Hartford no one likes to go into the hospital, and no one likes to go under anesthesia if they do not have to. One of the latest procedures available now is the wide awake eyelid surgery
At Dr. Stanley Foster’s office anyone with extra skin of the eyelids, heavy eyelids, or droopy eyelids has surgery while wide awake.
We do give patients valium and or a mild narcotic. Most patients do very will just getting the local anesthesia and relaxing while their eyelids are rejuvenated.
For anesthesia a very small needle is inserted on the side of the eyelid skin. Most people do not feel this at all. Then we use a blow by technique where the lidocaine and Marcaine are put in through a part of the eyelid that is already
numb. This limits the amount you will feel and works very quickly.
The skin is then removed and the eyelid is tightened.
The best part is that it is safer than general anesthesia. You get up off the OR table and go home with beautiful eyelids.
